Since I don't really have a current favourite book character I decided to choose from my favourite book when I was in middle school. Princess Addie from The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carlson Levine.
Princess Addie is the one in front with the brown hair. I never liked how they portrayed her on the cover of the book; to me it gave her a look of snootiness and confidence, when in book she was cowardly and afraid of everything.
I also always thought she resembled a non-asian version of my sister (which she never agreed with). I tried to find a picture to show and compare but none did my comparison justice, so I will just leave it and say that I am right and she is wrong.
So in my portrayal of Princess Addie just to mix it up a bit I decided to do a sort of 'stained glass window' portrait. It reminded me that I don't really like drawing non-realism and colouring with markers. This is her when being sad and scared of everything like she was in the start of the book:

And so I will end this post with a request...whoever borrowed my copy of this book, please return it! I don't remember who I lent it to but I would really like it back please.
